Till Death Do Us Part

“... To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part” These were the words he said with so much enthusiasm as he stood on the alter with his beloved bunny. Although this was the third time he was doing this, this is the happiest he has ever been. “She's most definitely the last one. The true one. If this doesn't work, I’m dead.” These were his thoughts as he watched her recite her vows to him. “ I now pronounce you, husband and wife” These words marked the beginning of the rest of his life.

“ So tell me about your first two wives" She asked “Well, Lisa was amazing, the absolute best but she died of cancer. Tola on the other hand just grew distant all of a sudden, it got worse and she finally left. Bunny, if we ever have an issue, please talk to me about it, don't ever leave me.” Bunmi kissed him and replied, “I’ll never leave you baby, Till death do us part”

“I’m so glad we're back in Lagos” She said as they walked into their home. She was grateful she didn't have to cook as Ken was quite understanding and they got dinner on their way home. She plopped on the bed and thought about her work for the week. “ Babe, can I meet your kids?” She asked, “Well, Bunny, that depends on them, I’ll ask for you”. He already knew he was never going to ask, but little did Ken know, that she already had an appointment with them for the following day.

“ Look, He was a great father, our mother died, he moved on and so did we. My sisters and I took this meeting only because we are courteous. Enjoy your marriage” Bunmi was quite confused, she only asked to meet them because she needed to know more about her husband, seeing as they only dated for about five months before tying the knot, but it was as though these children didn’t even now the man they called their father and wanted nothing to do with him. “ Okay... Thank you, at least can I get the number of his second wife? I’d like to ask her a few questions” The siblings looked at one another before one of them finally spoke up “ Uhm, Tola took great care of us after our mother died, we'd hate for you to cause her any trouble, but we'll ask her if she wants to speak with you”

“ I must admit, when the children said you wanted to talk to me, I was quite confused, but you seem to be great company” Tola said with a laugh, while setting down her glass. Bunmi was starting to wonder if this was the same woman Ken had described as cold and bitter. She just couldn’t wrap her head around it. His kids want nothing to do with him, his ex wife is the exact opposite of what he painted her as. “ So, Bunmi, what brings you here?” Tola asked, snapping Bunmi out of her thoughts. “Well, I really just want to know Ken better, and seeing as you were married to him, I feel like you are in a good position to help me do that.” Tola smiled before responding “ Honey, you'd be  surprised how many secrets married people keep, but Ken cares in his own way, twisted perhaps, but he cares all the same. He has a lot of impromptu business trips and spontaneous couple vacations, he isn’t a stingy husband. Great sex game, a little too great perhaps.” They chatted a little more and Bunmi left, and she was in quite a good mood as Tola was amazing company. As Bunmi walked away, Tola sighed and said  “ I’m so sorry Honey, I can’t be blamed for crashing his marriage. You already married him, you’ll have to find out everything yourself.”

Bunmi walked into the not-so-empty house, said hello to her staff and proceeded to wait for her husband’s arrival. She went over the events of the past week. Ken’s children wanted nothing with him and Tola, who was the complete opposite of what Ken described, practically danced around the question when Ken was mentioned. “Oh God, who's hiding what” she cried, a little frightened.

As they lay in bed, her head on his chest, their legs intertwined, the silence in the house was deafening. “ Babe, I saw your children and ex wife this week” she heard the sudden gasp “Well what did they say?” He asked “ You see babe, that’s the problem, they said absolutely nothing about you” “but bunny, you could have asked me whatever you needed to know” “ Yea, I guess... I love you tho” Bunmi replied.

She wiped a tear, as she stared at the phone. This was the sixth one she had discovered in the past three months. Shortly after their anniversary, she had discovered Ken was a serial cheat. She knew he had a really high sex drive she struggled to keep up with, she  really tried but sometimes, periods happened and her vagina needed a break. Another hurtful thing was that he kept all his concubines. They weren’t one night stands. She began the routine; discover the whore, cry about it, wonder what she’s doing wrong, search for new sex styles on the internet ( she new a lot now, seeing as she discovers a new whore, quite often), get high ( finding a plug was hard but worth it), welcome him with a smile and a kiss.

These events flashed through her head as she stared at her sleeping husband. Of the three years of their marriage, she enjoyed less than a year of it. “ I can’t do this anymore. Tonight, it all ends”. She thought of smothering him with a pillow in his sleep but you never harm a defenceless man. She woke him with a kiss and straddled him. He smiled and grabbed her waist, urging her to go on. She smiled back and he didn’t realise when she made the bedside lamp fall unto his face.  As he tried to get it off, she struck with a stab to the left side of his chest, missing his heart by mere millimetres. She stabbed him in the neck next. He looked at her with pain in his eyes. He was horrified as he never expected his beloved bunny to do this to him. “Why?” He managed to ask “ You’re a cheating scumbag, that’s why” “You never confronted me bunny. You never did” She kept stabbing and the last thing he said was “ I love you, bunny”.
He finally stopped breathing, she was covered in blood, the entire room was covered in blood. As if killing him wasn’t enough, she cut off his penis. “ The instrument of promiscuity” She said with a laugh and shoved it down his throat. “Till death do us part” she said and kissed his forehead.

She walked out of the room, had a long hot shower and scrubbed hard at her sins. She got out and put on her best Carolina Herrera dress, Used her best perfume, Put on her best jewellery items. Grabbed her keys and all ATM cards, struck a match and  threw it on the bed, where her dead husband lay. Struck another match and threw it on the couch in the living room, disarmed the alarm system on her way out and drove into the night without a backward glance.

Be very careful when choosing a life partner.
Who was responsible for Ken's death? Ken? Bunmi? Or Tola?

  1. It's all fun and games till you hit the wrong note manh. His bunny killed him, no justifying that . Being a cheating scum or Nah, she could have just left. Lol. Lesson: don't go around waking up people's crazy.

    1. Why kill him, he was clearly having a medical condition where he couldn't control his sexual urges. For those who have that condition, they can't live a normal healthy life or relationship.

  6. Ken was the victim in this story, he was a slave to his urges and he had no other fault in this story, even he last words were that he loved her. He didn't deserve to be murdered, the truth is that sometimes we are not always in the driver's seat of our bodies.

    2. Quick question tho, I don't support murder or infidelity but did Bunmi deserve to be cheated on?

    3. No one deserves to be cheated on but the truth of this story is that they are both at fault , they got married without Truely knowing each other.

  7. Killing men wasn’t even necessary, this present age and time it’s becoming very normal for the husband to cheat, a lot of women go through this in most families and the most important thing is him loving her still and he takes good care of her and her kids
