Cheating seems to have become a norm in today's society, sometimes, it isn't even viewed as cheating because infidelity is only an issue, when commitment is involved. Cheating/Infidelity includes, but isn't limited to, being sexually unfaithful. It is also the action or state of being unfaithful to a spouse or partner. Cheating is difficult to define, because people differ in the type of contact they feel it is appropriate for their partner to have with others. To some people, flirting is cheating, to some sex is cheating, to others sex isn't cheating, but if their partner kisses someone else, it's a tie breaker.
Nowadays, there are a lot of 'open relationships' where there really is no commitment, in situations like that, I don't think it counts as cheating.

In this blogpost, we are going to explore possible reasons why people cheat. I spoke to a few people to get their perspectives on cheating and why they do it. A lot of them were guys and they gave some of the most interesting reasons.

If I'm offered: If the girl starts hinting and makes some moves, I'll eat of the fruit that is her body. - Guy1 (paraphrased)

If I'm cornered: If I'm offered, I'll walk away, but If I'm cornered. Cornered as in you come to my house, we start talking, I'll soo not stop you. - Guy2 

I just love women: I know its bad, but I just love women. I can't resist. Seeing as I'm a smooth talker and girls end up falling for me, I just can't help it, but seeing as you've not fallen yet, my skills aren't that good. - Guy3

I'm indecisive: I like MrA and MrB and MrC. I just can't choose, so I keep them all. - Girl1

He's probably doing it: Abeg, I'm almost sure he's cheating too, I cant kill myself. Besides, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. - Girl2

These were the responses I got, when I asked people why they cheat.

When people get cheated on, it hurts, a lot of questions arise, but the biggest one is why?Why did he/she cheat?

Personally, I feel like people who cheat find it very hard to quit cheating based on their reasons. I'm not here to bash cheating partners. Yes, people make mistakes, Yes people find love while in a relationship, but you could quit before you start something new.

As a person who's been cheated on, (Baba was a serial cheat 😂) I get slightly worried when I find out someone I'm dating has cheated in the past. I start to worry about if I'm going to get cheated on eventually, and that does crazy shit to you. Your trust for your partner might be affected which would eventually take its toll on the relationship.

Recently, I've come to learn that although cheating is unacceptable in monogamous relationships, people always have their reasons. No matter how illogical they sound. People cheat because of their insecurities and a million other reasons, love being one of them (as stupid as it sounds, it's true).

Personally, I think the only solution to a cheating partner is prayer, unless you're not married yet, then feel free to run if you can't bear the headache. My advise to people out there, stay faithful or stay loose.  ✌
