Jenga

The game of Jenga, is a very interesting one, You stack the pieces and you take a piece from the stack, place it on the already made stack and use what's left to support the tower. It's quite fascinating really. Almost a perfect embodiment of the phrase "We rise by lifting others" I say "almost", because at the end of the day, the tower topples over.

I'm not here to talk about board games.

I'm here to talk about support systems. A support system is a network of people who provide practical or emotional support to an individual. Most times, people expect support systems to be made up of people they are related to by blood. The unfortunate thing is, more often than not, blood isn't always family, family isn't always your support system.

The beautiful thing is, sometimes we get beautiful families where blood is not a connection. People you vibe with, people you understand, people who make you laugh. We should cherish this kind of people.

Quick question; Do you have a support system? What's it like? Is it like Lagos traffic? Unpredictable and mostly exhausting?
Well, I think your support system should be the best there is. EVERYONE deserves a fantastic support system. Things are going great, they're there with you. Shit just hit the fan? They're already helping you clean up.

A support system should make you feel safe and confident and powerful, because, whether you like it or not, support goes a long way, especially emotionally. I'm not asking you to go around seeking validation, I just want you to identify the people who would always be in your corner and stay strong for you.

I had a not so great week, this past week and I can boldly say, if not for my support system, I'd be a total wreck. It made me understand that everybody needs one.

This post is sort of an appreciation post, Thank you guys for being there in what seemed like my darkest hour. I love you beyond words.

Tag your support system 💚
Share one time they were there and you felt sooo much love.
