Hey guys... I know it's been a whiiile... lol. I apologize. Well, I hope everyone is doing well amidst the pandemic, well... I had some time on my hand and I decided to put some of my thoughts in writing, shared with some of my closest friends and they demanded (threatened) that I put it on here... Well, here goes.

Soulmate
According to the Oxford dictionary, a soulmate is a person ideally suited to another, either as a close friend or a romantic partner. In many cultures, soulmate means different things. It also means many things to different people.
Let’s look at a few more meanings. According to Wikipedia, a soulmate is a person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity; this may involve similarity, love, romance, platonic relationshipscomfort, intimacy, spirituality, compatibility, and trust. On an episode of the show “God friended me” Someone described soulmate as “someone who unexpectedly comes into your life and helps you when you need it the most asking for nothing in return” In Hindu culture, there’s an idea that you have a karmic connection with certain souls. In Gujarati, it’s called lehnu; the link with another soul that keeps causing you to cross paths positively impacting each other. It describes someone that helps you lead a life that serves a higher purpose. Buddhists believe that we’re reborn an infinite number of times and that relationships can carry over from one lifetime to the next. The closest word is pratitya-samutpada. Summarily, Buddhists feel like soulmates carry over lifetimes. In Judaism, there are two beliefs, your bashert, and hevruta. One is your bestowed and destined partner, the other is your learning partner. Your hevruta pushes you and challenges you. It is believed that it’s not about finding someone who completes you it’s about finding someone who helps you to complete yourself. According to a psychologist Dr. Harra, “Your soulmate makes you feel whole, healed and intact” like no piece is missing from the puzzle. “A soulmate is someone who has locks to fit our keys and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the lock, our truest selves step out and we can be honestly and completely who we are”
I’m sure by now you get the picture of what a soulmate is perceived to be. Many people believe there’s just one soulmate for every person. One perfect match out there for you and me to fall in love with and laugh and enjoy the little things with and be infinitely happy with. Even on the bad days, you know that they’re your happy place and this too shall pass. Other’s believe you make your soulmate. You find a person and fall in love and put in the effort and make them the best version of them for you.
Now, here’s my opinion, I feel a soulmate doesn’t have to be a romantic partner to have and to hold. I also feel you just get one soulmate. One person who gets you who finishes your thoughts. Not sentences, thoughts. You connect on so deep a level that it feels unreal. Some people meet their soulmate and don’t even realize it but when they do, it’s too late. Some people meet their soulmate at the perfect time and it’s beautiful. I feel your soulmate can be your friend. Someone you vibe with, you’d go to the moon and Atlantis for. Some people meet their soulmate and lose them and no one can fill that void. They could fall in love and find other friends, better friends, and lovers perhaps but no one fits quite like them. Some people also go through life without ever having a soulmate.
Have I met my soulmate? I think so… Do they know I think we’re soulmates? Probably not. So, let me know, have you met your soulmate? What do you think a soulmate is? Do you believe in soulmates at all?
